Position Overview:
- We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Yacht Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a fleet of yachts. The Yacht Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring the vessels are maintained to the highest standards, both technically and aesthetically while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This role will involve frequent travel to inspect yachts around the world, ensuring they meet class, flag, and regulatory requirements. The Superintendent will also work closely with the captain, crew, technical teams, and contractors to maintain the operational efficiency, safety, and overall condition of the yachts.
Key Responsibilities:
Vessel Maintenance & Technical Support:
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of yacht maintenance and repair, including routine servicing, dry-docking, and refits.
- Work with technical teams and contractors to ensure all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are functioning properly.
- Ensure that the yacht’s engines, systems, and machinery are in excellent working condition and meet all manufacturer specifications.
- Develop and oversee preventive maintenance schedules to avoid breakdowns and downtime.
Travel & Global Yacht Inspections:
- Travel internationally to inspect yachts, ensuring vessels are maintained according to the highest industry standards.
- Perform site inspections to check the condition, systems, and operational efficiency of yachts across different locations.
- Evaluate and ensure yachts are compliant with class and flag requirements, and ensure that all necessary documentation and certifications are up to date.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all yachts are in compliance with international maritime regulations, including safety standards, certification, and inspections.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., MARPOL, SOLAS).
- Oversee the vessel\'s safety drills, equipment checks, and certification renewals.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee the management and procurement of spare parts, tools, and supplies required for the vessels.
- Maintain an organized inventory system to ensure essential equipment is always available and well-maintained.
- Review budgets for maintenance and repair work, tracking expenses and managing costs effectively.
Project Management & Refits:
- Coordinate large-scale repair projects, refits, or upgrades, including sourcing contractors, obtaining quotes, and ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
- Oversee the planning and execution of yacht refits or refurbishments, ensuring they meet the client’s expectations and are in line with safety and regulatory requirements.
Class & Flag Compliance:
- Ensure that all yachts are in compliance with the specific requirements of their classification society (class) and the flag state under which they are registered.
- Review, coordinate, and facilitate surveys, inspections, and audits as required by the class and flag authorities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing regulations in relation to class and flag requirements, ensuring timely and efficient compliance.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, inspections, and certifications for each yacht.
- Provide regular reports to senior management regarding the condition of the yachts, including any issues or concerns, cost management, and upcoming maintenance requirements.
- Prepare and maintain maintenance logs, including warranty details and service history.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in yacht management, marine engineering, or a similar role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of marine systems, including engines, electrical, hydraulics, HVAC, and navigational equipment.
- Certifications: Relevant maritime certifications (e.g., STCW, MCA, etc.) are preferred but not obliged.
- Project Management Skills: Experience managing complex refit and repair projects, with an understanding of project timelines and budgeting.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently and effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including crew, owners, contractors, and senior management.
