£150million super yacht owned by Kazakh billionaire docks in Dartmouth

A £150million super yacht belonging to a multi-billionaire has brought a touch of glamour to Dartmouth this weekend.

The stunning, newly built, Lady Lara, stopped in to the South Devon port en-route to Norway as part of her maiden voyage.The £150million ship is owned by super-rich Kazakhstani tycoon Alexander Machkevitch.A friend of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Mr Machkevitch is worth an estimated £2billion.He made his fortune in the mining industry, as a major shareholder of the London-based Eurasian National Resources Corporation.

The 91-metre long Lady Lara was launched in April and embarked on her sea trials in July.Arriving from Holland, she is now expected to cross the Atlantic to cruise the winter season between Florida, the Bahamas and the Eastern Caribbean Islands.The 91-metre long Lady Lara, thought to be the 51st biggest superyacht in the world, is on her maiden voyage from shipbuilder Lürssen Yachts’ base in Germany to Norway.It made the stop on the River Dart during what is also a crew training trip in the River Dart, much to the delight of residents, businesses and visitors in the seaside resort.The vessel’s very distinctive lines and curves are the work of Reymond Langton Design. Her exterior shape features grand sweeping curves and elegant proportions that resembles a feminine image, combined with masculine features such as defined lines and sculpted surfaces.
