51st Southampton Boat Show

We had a fantastic day out this weekend at the 51st Southampton International Boat Show, powered by Borrow A Boat, with over 600 global marine brands on display and debuts from over 330 boats.

Mayflower Park, Southampton annually turns into one of Europe’s largest purpose-built marinas, impressively hosting one of the world’s top 10 boat shows.  Open from 13th to 22nd September this year’s Boat Show was opened by British athlete, rowing champion and double Olympic gold medal holder James Cracknell who admitted to only recently getting into a different kind of watersport.

The boat show has many glorious and glamorous superyachts on display with visitors free to peruse the latest in breathtaking engineering, interior design and innovation.  Sunseeker had 11 boats on display demonstrating that innovation really is the key to their success and Fairline Boats had their Targa 45, Targa 48 GT, Squadron 53 and Targa 65 GTO on display with visitors relaxing onboard their extremely elegant motorboat range.

Boat Show organisers British Marine have made sure there is plenty to see and explore with lots of on-water taster sessions from Try-A-Boat and Get Afloat and many global marine brands demonstrating their wares over the 10 days, everything from the latest in electronics, boating technology, SUP’s, clothing kit and accessories to the finest yachts, catamarans, motorboats, kayaks and dinghies.   With dogs welcomed to the show for the first time, no plastics and the environment the theme, the sun shone for the entire 10 days with thousands of guest speakers and businesses hosting talks, accompanied by live music, a packed and lively Guinness tent (when we were there!) interactive attractions including the Ocean Scene Mini Cruise, complete with food stands and sundecks so plenty for visitors to see, try out, explore and taste.
