As a yacht crew member, your job is to provide exceptional service and ensure a seamless experience for guests on board. However, sometimes the relentless motion of the sea can bring along an unwelcome companion: sea sickness. Dealing with this challenge is crucial to maintaining your performance and well-being. In this blog post, we will explore effective tips and tricks to help you battle sea sickness and keep your spirits high on the high seas.

The constant movement of the yacht disrupts the balance, leading to symptoms like nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. Understanding the causes can help you prepare and manage the symptoms effectively.

When it comes to combating sea sickness, your position on the yacht matters. Opting for a position where the motion is minimised can be helpful. The middle of the yacht, near its centre of gravity, tends to experience less movement. If possible, choose a cabin located amidships or a workspace that provides stability.

Fixing your gaze on the horizon can provide visual reference points that help your brain synchronise with the motion of the yacht. Avoid staring at objects that are constantly moving, such as the interior of the yacht or electronic screens.
