The training programme is UK MCA approved in accordance with IMO STCW standards.
This course is aimed at ensuring the competence of any seafarer who is required to take charge of a Fast Rescue Craft in emergency situations during and after launch. The training meets the standard of Section A-V1/2 of the STCW code.
The course is aimed at personnel who will be operating fast rescue boats onboard vessels and consists of theoretical and practical training to meet the learning objectives and stated outcomes for proficiency in section A-V1/2 of the STCW code. Delegates will undergo continual and final assessment by qualified assessors.
Course Structure
Delegates will undergo practical and theoretical training in the following subjects:
Construction and outfit of FRBs and individual items of their equipment.
Particular characteristics and facilities of FRBs.
Safety precautions during launch and recovery of an FRB.
Procedures for righting a capsized FRB.
How to handle and FRB in prevailing and adverse weather and sea conditions.
Navigational and safety equipment available in an FRB.
Search patterns and environmental factors affecting their execution.
Assessment of the readiness of FRBs and related equipment for immediate use.
Knowledge of the maintenance, emergency repairs, normal inflation and deflation of buoyancy compartments of inflated FRBs.
Methods of starting and operating an FRB engine and its accessories.
Manage injured persons, including the control of bleeding and shock.
