With effect from June 2015 PYT will be offering GMDSS training at the South African Maritime Training Academy (SAMTRA) in Simons Town near Cape Town. This has been as a result of unreasonable price increases by our Durban-based service provider.

To simplify the logistics and mitigate any possible extra costs to students the seven-week OOW programme will either start or end with the GMDSS module.

Students whose programme begins with GMDSS should report to SAMTRA for the first two weeks of their training after which they will travel as a group to our Durban office at our expense to complete the remaining five weeks of the programme.

Students whose programme ends with GMDSS will conversely spend the first five weeks in Durban before transferring at our expense to Simons Town for the last two.

NOTE:

1. Transfer to or from Cape Town at PYT\'s expense is available only to students who enrol for the full seven week programme.

2. Students will need to make their own travel arrangements to accommodate the fact that their course starts and ends in different places.

3. As in the past, students will be responsible for their own accommodation arrangements. Both centres offer a wide variety to suit all budgets. We can provide a selection of recommendations upon request.
