An International Certificate of Competence (ICC) is needed if you aim to use, hire or charter powerboats abroad. This is all in place to prevent accidents happening and to ensure all boat users are kept safe and well using well organised certification.
Course Structure
Written/Oral test covering:-
Regulations, Pilotage, Navigation, Safety, Inland Knowledge(if applicable).
Boat Handling Test covering:-
Preparation, Departing Pontoon, 360` turn in confined space, Securing to a buoy, Man Overboard, High speed manoeuvres, Coming alongside windward pontoon.
Useful Information
The cost covers just the ICC test and not the application fee. However your instructor will provide and help you complete your application form and all you have to do is send your form, two passport photos and an application fee of £40 or free to RYA members direct to the RYA.
Experience Required: A self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions, aware of own limitations and those of craft. You should be competent in your powerboating skills up to and including those in the RYA Powerboat Level Two course. Minimum age is 16 years.
