An Approved Engine Course Part 1 meets the requirements of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s code of practice for safety of large commercial sailing and motor vessels, and the Department of Transport’s “The safety of small commercial vessels – A code of practice” and “The safety of small commercial sailing vessels – A code of practice”. The MCA Approved Engine Course (AEC) develops your basic understanding from the RYA Diesel Engine Maintenance course to a more advanced level. It provides the practical basic hands on training and theoretical knowledge of diesel engines to enable you to work on board yachts as engineer/ duel deck engineer and also provides invaluable enhancement of the skills base for those planning to skipper smaller yachts.
