What is our e learning Academy?

We have developed a brand new type of distance learning. Our orals prep e learning academy provides instant online and offline access to the full range of Barry’s MCA orals preparation training materials. In addition it also allows access to our app which can be used to view the content offline.

What do you see?

Once signed in, you will be presented with a clear, intuitive and easy-to-use interface where you can view the course structure. The e learning academy is well structured worth over 200 hours worth of videos and takes you through over 35 MCA exam aligned modules. The system also tracks your individual progress as you complete each specific module.

What are the modules?

Our modules, range from Collision Regulations, passage planning, ship handling and recordings of our live, interactive, twice weekly tutorial clinics. All our modules are aligned to the MCA orals exam syllabus and our suite of modules keeps increasing! Each module houses video tutorials, Quizzes, e books, module resources, mind maps and current associated information.

What else is included?

As well as access to the e learning academy and mobile offline app, we also provide two live interactive tutorial clinics each week so that your learning is mentored and supported while you learn

How does this help me?

A clearly presented report allows you to locate weaknesses in your learning and take action by customising your subsequent training accordingly to ensure you are supported in areas that are more of a challenge. The learning academy can be used in conjunction with face-to-face or Skype sessions or as a supplement to your own revision.

Course Structure

Blended learning is a combination of joining our e learning academy, access to our offline app, twice weekly live interactive tutorials with face to face and/or skype tutorials nearer to your exam or as progress sessions to help mentor you throughout your course.Course Approach

Our blended learning approach provides a structured, logical and comprehensive course typically taken over a three month period. During COVID-19 period, we are only charging for one months use and this will allow access from now up to an exam anytime in in 2020.

Early access to the e learning prevents cramming of information and this pre loading of course material ensures a deeper knowledge base. This method then enables your tuition sessions to be a lot more interactive. Barry focus on situational awareness and critical thinking which are key elements of your oral exam.

In addition, another benefit of blended learning, is the reduced number of tuition sessions required. On average, candidates with this approach, have only had between, 10-26 hours. However, every candidate is individual , so the number of hours can increase or decrease as required.

With our blended learning model, or technology reinforces your face to face or Skype tutorials and enables you to remain engaged wherever you are at whatever pace you chose. The e learning academy houses 34 modules and maps the MCA syllabus thus, providing you with all the necessary key information.

How do I start Blended Learning

Step 1

Start e learning. Ideally 1-3 months before your exam. The course can be completed in a month however, this would require a high level of study commitment each day.

Step 2

Use the provided revision plan to structure your way through the course.

Step 3

We recommend an initial progress Skype or face to face session 2-4 weeks after the starting the e learning and then at least another another two or three two hour progress tutorials.

Step 4

Undertake the final face to face or Skype tutorials before your exam.
