Proficiency as Ship Security Officer (SSO) (A-VI/5)

Our SSO training course will allow you to work professionally in an on-board security role. It is approved by the MCA, and is suitable for you if you are about to serve, or already serve, as a safety representative.

What you'll get from the course

All commercial yachts over 500GT must have International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code certification, as well as a qualified SSO.

You will learn how to plan crew training, establish a ship security plan, carry out assessments and address threats from piracy. As a result, you'll achieve a good understanding of risks to shipping and how to manage them.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a MCA approved Ships Security Officer Certifcate.
