This progressive First Aid course is designed to give seafarers the skills and essential knowledge to take action when encountering medical emergencies at sea. Food and accommodation are available onsite at UKSA. The residential price for this course is £815
Course Structure
Students will cover the following topics: • Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillator • Airway Emergencies • Medical emergencies • Trauma assessments to include head, neck, chest, and abdominal injuries • Bleeds and burns • Shock and vital signs • Effects of temperature – hypo and hyperthermia • Fractures and dislocations • Soft tissue injuries • Monitoring a casualty and recognising deterioration • Casualty handling • Communications • You should have a good level of fitness and be able to work on the ground easily as you will be expected to deal with simulated emergencies in a range of settings.
