Proficiency in Security Awareness (PSA)
Course Duration: 4 hrs
Option 1 – £ 90 + VAT per student
Students have the option to attend and complete the course within one 4 hour session
Option 2 – £ 60 + VAT per student
Students can complete this training as a 4 hour distance learning course, attending our training centre for their written exam only.
The course includes tea/coffee and complimentary lunch.
The STCW Convention and Code as amended by the Manila amendments (2010) contains new requirements regarding security training. This training is required by all personnel employed or engaged on-board ships which the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code applies.
The course is designed to give those on-board ship who do not have a designated security duty the essential education and training meeting the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency requirements in support of Chapter XI-2 of the annex to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974, as amended and the International Ship and Port Facility Code.
Each student will also receive a handbook to assist your learning throughout the course.
Upon successful completion of the course students will be provided with a MCA approved Proficiency in Security Awareness certificate.
Proficiency in Security Awareness Course Learning Objectives:
An awareness of the importance of ship security and the roles of those involved in its provision
An awareness of the requirements and measures needed to maintain ship security
An ability to recognise and report a security threat
Assessment
Candidates are assessed by multiple-choice examination.
