This crew training certification is a 5-day course designed to equip you to enter the international Superyacht industry at Deckhand level.
The course covers practical crew skills.
Participants in this course will gain: the RYA Competent Crew certificate which is recognised worldwide.
Anyone may participate in this course if you are medically fit. There are no prerequisites.
The Course is conducted in Sydney and is live-aboard for the duration.

Course Structure
You receive a comprehensive introduction to yachting, designed for novice sailors who would like to become active and knowledgeable crew. By the end of the 5-day ‘live-aboard’ week you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout and assist in all the day to day routines of running a small sailing yacht.
We also offer 'add ons' such as the Professional Superyacht Crew Induction, RYA Powerboat Level 2 - usually over the weekend (2-days) and you can also opt for RYA Marine Radio. Please ask for dates.
Useful Information
Depending on your age and prior work experience when you start, your career progression will vary. On average a Deckhand will spend 2-4 years in junior roles before moving up to a senior position. Further training is required to move up the ranks. Very often those who start as ‘mature’ entrants, particularly with prior maritime experience and qualifications under their belt, will rise to a position of authority in a shorter time span. Good and experienced senior crew are in demand and can earn wages in excess of $10,000/month. Charters tips will also increase any crew’s earnings considerably with tips of $1,000-$3,000 per charter common. Most crew agreements include a free flight home each year, a month’s holiday and bonus. Crew have virtually no living expenses and are covered by health insurance!
