RYA Cruising Instructor

The RYA Cruising Instructor course provides a gateway to working in the marine industry as an RYA Instructor. Once completed you will have the qualification needed to approach any RYA Training Centre and deliver the following courses: RYA Start Yachting, RYA Competent Crew, RYA Day Skipper Sail, RYA Sail Cruising Level 1 and Level 2.

The RYA Cruising Instructor course provides a gateway to working in the marine industry as an RYA Instructor. Once completed you will have the qualification needed to approach any RYA Training Centre and deliver the following courses: RYA Start Yachting, RYA Competent Crew, RYA Day Skipper Sail, RYA Sail Cruising Level 1 and Level 2. It's also the experience-building stepping stone you'll need should you want to go on and become a Yachtmaster™ Instructor.

The course is structured over 5 days, culminating in a moderation day on day 5 by an external RYA assessor. Each day you will be provided with skills, knowledge and teaching techniques to enable you to become an ambassador for the RYA and the training centre you are working for.

Course Structure

Assessment is continual throughout the course. You will be expected to prove you can be a good instructor by give convincing demonstrations of any part of the RYA Competent Crew and RYA Day Skipper syllabuses.
