RYA Day Skipper Theory

The RYA Day Skipper Theory course is a comprehensive introduction to cruising for inexperienced or rusty skippers. The RYA Day Skipper theory courses are often taken by yachtsmen and crews working on board yachts and motor cruisers as well as leisure sailors looking to develop their skills for racing or day sailing.

This course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day, we also include a basic knowledge of lights to introduce you to night cruising. In conjunction with the UK Hydrographic Office we have developed a chart plotter specifically for use on the training course, giving you a realistic insight into electronic navigation. Use of this plotter is an integral part of our Day Skipper shore-based course.

RYA Day Skipper Theory courses are taught over 40 hours with two exam papers. It can be covered as a series of evening classes or as an intensive course over 5 days or 2 ½ weekends. A comprehensive course pack is included, as well as two exercise charts, course handbook, exercises work-book and the RYA chart plotter CD, we also provide FREE OF CHARGE a full size course plotter, brass dividers and the RYA Training Almanac, saving you £25.
