RYA Day Skipper

This is an elementary course to familiarise people with the requirements to ensure their safety on the water. It is suitable for Yachtsmen and Women, Sports Fisherman, Sea Canoeists, Powerboaters and anyone who wants to spend leisure time on the water.

The subject areas covered include:

Seamanship, including terms, ropework, anchorwork, safety.

International regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea.

Navigation, including chart familiarisation, use of chart instruments, compasses, position fixing, tides and tidal streams.

Passage planning and pilotage.

Meteorology.
