RYA Day Skipper Theory

Short on time or worried about trying to get your head around the Day Skipper theory in just five days? This online-only option for the Day Skipper theory syllabus gives you up to 60 days to complete it - plus you get to do it from the comfort of your own home and at your own pace!

We will issue you with login details and all your information including course materials is sent out to you directly, enabling you to access the syllabus and complete your course online, and at your pace with Navathome, our chosen partner for delivering our online courses - you can even sit in your PJs with a glass of wine if it helps!

The RYA Day Skipper theory course is absolutely full of fantastic information from tying a knot, tidal heights, tidal streams, weather, position fixing, estimated position to plotting a full blown course to steer and passage plan.

Once you have completed the course you will be safer for yourself, your friends and your family and after completing an RYA practical course you should be well on your way to being a first class skipper!

The course is made up of detailed lessons, most of which are animated for easy learning.

Each lesson is followed by a set of questions which can be answered online. Some of the answers will be checked by Navathome’s software before being submitted to the centre. The software will pick up any errors and provide advice on what has gone wrong allowing you a second chance to do the question and submit the answer.

Once an answer is submitted the feedback is instant in the form of a detailed answer page. Some answers will be forwarded to your instructor who will provide personal feedback and help where required.

One of the major advantages of using the Navathome Day Skipper course is being able to know instantly how you are doing. Even the answers that you have submitted to your instructor are provided with instant feedback.

Your RYA pack will include charts, RYA almanac, RYA course notes, and course plotter, and will be posted to you once booked. The assessment and completion certificate is all included in the price.

When you feel you are ready to complete the exam you just need to inform Navathome of a suitable day. They will then access your system and you will have one day to complete your online exam.

You will have 6 months to complete the course, however if this is not quite long enough you can pay just £30 to renew it for another 6 months!
