RYA Day Skipper Theory

This course will provide you with the navigation skills required for carrying out short passages. You will learn about rules of the road, lights, shapes and sound signals, as well as dead reckoning, course to steer, estimated positions etc...Tidal calculations are also introduced in this course. These calculations are especially important should you decide to go to your Coastal Skipper Theory but also relevant when you come to attend your practical session.

On the last day of the course, you will sit for two exams - a general knowledge paper and a chart work paper.
