This is an intermediate level course that aims to build on your core skills by developing your navigation, decision making and leadership ability. You will skipper a yacht on a number of short passages, under the guidance of your instructor, taking charge of everything from passage planning, to interpreting weather forecasts and mooring.
The RYA Day Skipper is a valuable qualification and recognised as evidence of competence by insurance and charter companies worldwide. Perfect if you are considering a bareboat holiday.
The Day Skipper course is designed to develop your leadership skills and confidence in charge of a yacht. The skipper must take responsibility for performing individual tasks, and for the safety of the yacht and those on board. Being the skipper is a rewarding experience, and it is recommended that your training follows the worldwide recognised and respected structure that RYA Day Skipper provides.
The Day Skipper course will focus on improving your existing skills and crew management. You will develop your yacht handling under power and sail, in marinas, mooring, and with man overboard recovery. You will put your navigation and pilotage skills to work and plan and execute your own short passages.
