RYA First Aid

The 1 day RYA First Aid Course is a requirement for many seafarers including commercial skippers, bareboat skippers and regatta crews. The syllabus was created following guidelines from many recognised agencies, but your Solent Boat Training instructor will help you relate both the theory and practical components to being at sea. A realistic approach to procedures that can be conducted with the restrictions of being at sea.

Course Structure

The recovery position in a confined space

CPR, including the Drowning protocol

Cold Shock and Hypothermia from immersion and/or exposure

Seasickness and Dehydration

Summoning Medical Assistance or Advice by VHF

Helicopter Rescue procedures
