RYA FIRST AID COURSE AIMS:
In a medical emergency, a little First Aid knowledge can save lives, especially when you are in a remote location. This course will provide you with a basic knowledge of First Aid and is aimed at people who will be using small craft inland or at sea. The course is equally suitable for cruisers, racers, dinghy sailors, windsurfers, motor boaters and ocean rowers. The course fulfils the requirements for professional skippers of small craft working up to 60 miles from a safe haven. The RYA First Aid course is recognised by the MCA, the HSE and World Sailing, it satisfies the requirements for RYA Instructors, holders of RYA/MCA Certificates of Competence, offshore race crews (Cat 1, 2) and most Ocean rowing .
RYA FIRST AID COURSE CONTENT:
First Aid and resuscitation techniques for yachtsmen and small craft users, including the treatment for hypothermia. The RYA First Aid Course is unique in First Aid terms, as it is aimed at water sports enthusiasts and small craft operators, it takes a realistic look at the levels of First Aid that can be performed in a yacht, powerboat, dinghy or ocean rowing boat. Our instructors fully appreciate the difference between conventional First Aid and RYA First Aid (where the ambulance may not be just ten minutes away). The certificate is valid for three years and AED practical training is included.

This classroom course can run with anything from 2 to 12 students. We are happy to arrange 1:1 on request.
The RYA provide all of their centres with guidance on the ratio of training equipment to students. While their ratios work we don’t believe in just “packing you in”. It is important to us that you get more time to practice life saving skills such as CPR and the Instructor has the opportunity to correct any errors in technique. On all our courses you spend more time participating and less time watching others. We do this by providing plenty of equipment
