This course is a part of the RYA National Sailing Scheme. It is comprised of a series of two day courses enabling candidates to progress quickly from a beginner in a controlled, safe and enjoyable environment.

During the Start Sailing course, candidates will cover the key aspects of sailing to give an all-round understanding of the skills needed to get started with Keelboat sailing. On completion of the course, participants are expected to be able to sail in light winds under supervision.

Course content will include:

· How to sail in different directions

· Awareness of launching and recovery

Waterproofs can be provided if needed and a personal floatation device will be supplied on the day.

What you need to bring:

· Suitable clothing – warm clothes and waterproof footwear or footwear that you don’t mind getting wet

· Towel and a change of clothes

· Weather protection – hat and gloves (winter) or hat, sunglasses and sun cream (summer)

· Packed lunch

· Any medication you might require

Waterproof clothing can be supplied

Minimum age 16
