RYA Level 1 (keelboat)

The aim of this two day course is to offer an enjoyable introduction to keelboat sailing where safety, fun and expert tuition are the key elements.

Rigging, points of sail, leaving and returning to pontoons, sailing efficiently and basic rules of the road. You will spend plenty time on the helm and crewing, which will help you become accustomed to all of the terminology and develop your techniques.

Format:

How to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovering in a keelboat.

Requirements/ Prerequisites:

No previous sailing experience required

Minimum age 16 years of age. Be able to swim 50 metres. If unable to meet this swimming requirement due to disability please phone the centre to discuss any special needs.

Ability after course:

Able to sail a keelboat in light winds under supervision
