RYA Level 1 (Start Sailing)

The RYA Level 1 Sailing course comprises of six lessons of 2.5 hours each. This programme is suited to those wanting to achieve a competent level of sailing ability. Boats used are: Laser Pico, Wayfarers and Enterprises.

This course provides a short introduction to sailing for novices. We can offer this course as a single module with the 15 hours of tuition spread over your holiday time or weekends. You can book this course on either a 'short break' or over a weeks holiday.

The RYA Level 1 Sailing Course is aimed at the absolute novice and requires no previous experience. By the end of the course, participants will have a basic understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge and will be able to handle the sailing boat under the watchful eye of an instructor.

Course Structure

The course content includes rigging, ropework and knots, practical sailing manoeuvres, clothing and equipment, rules of the road and safety.
