RYA Powerboat Level 1

The RYA Powerboat Level 1 is the entry-level course for powerboaters. It introduces the safe use of a powerboat and covers basic boat handling and theory.

The course is a full day and takes place inside Bristol’s historic floating harbour. Many first time users and young people over the age of 12 take the RYA Powerboat Level 1 course so that they can assist aboard powerboats and feel safe and controlled at slow speeds.

The Powerboat Level 1 is a great way to start powerboating, practicing skills such as coming along side, picking up a buoy, launching and landing and use of safety equipment.

Once the RYA powerboat level 1 is complete the next progression is RYA Powerboat Level 2, which includes the coastal element and high speed maneuvers in the Bristol Channel.
