RYA Powerboat Level 1

This course is a one day introduction to boating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment.

This course has a minimum age of 8 however there are elements of the course that anyone under the age of 12 would only be able to observe. Candidates under the age of 16 will not be issued with a full certificate but would get an endorsement.

After the course the candidates would be able to drive a boat under supervision. It should be noted that Sunderland Port Authority does not allow people under 16 to drive powerboats unsupervised.
