This Online RYA PPR course is for first time commercial skippers and commercial endorsed skippers that now have to revalidate their commercial endorsement.

Ocean Sports Tuition has been offering the Professional Practices and Responsibilities (PPR) since its inception and we have always had great course feed back from both new and existing skippers.

Is this the right course for me?

Professional Practices and Responsibilities (PPR) – new from April 2012 a online compulsory course for new and revalidating RYA Commercial Endorsement holders.

Do I need previous experience?

No this course is aimed at new and existing commercial endorsed skippers revalidation.

If you hold one of the following qualifications you are except from this course – MCA Deck Officer’s Certificate of Competence as Officer of the Watch, Master 200, Master 500 or above.

What will I learn?

This course is modular and split into four modules:

•Commercial environment – showing how you fit into the professional maritime world.

•People – explaining the importance of correct manning, keeping your skills up to date and the safe management of commercial vessels.

•Vessel – teaching about the compulsory carriage and maintenance of safety equipment and how to create and implement risk control and operating procedures. ·

Purpose – making sure your vessel is suitable and legal for the work you are carrying out, your obligations in protecting the environment, appropriate planning and situational awareness.

At the end of modules you will be able to practice on a mock assessment, this is to make sure you are ready for the graded online assessment.

How long is the course?

It is estimated that the course modules will take between 6 – 8 hours. The graded course assessment is split into two section this should take 2.5 hours.
