RYA Radar

In restricted visibility you are required to use all means available to avoid a collision. If you are on a boat fitted with Radar you are required to use it for collision avoidance.

Course Structure

•How to set the radar to give best picture

•How to identify potential collision situations

•How to decide avoiding action

•The course also includes sections on how radar sets work, how to navigate in restricted waters in the dark or fog, e.g. entering a harbour

•Using a radar for position fixing

Useful Information

No previous knowledge is required, the training is practical, using the latest Radar Simulation software packages. The course also includes two work books. Cost for members £60, (non members £70) plus £15 for supporting books. The class size is restricted to five students.
