RYA Safety Boat

A two day weekend course covering skills and techniques used in rescue situations using powered craft. You must already hold powerboat Levels 1 and 2 and have at least a seasons power boating experience to ensure you take the most away from this course. Recommended methods will be taught and evaluated with heavy emphasis on approaching each situation in a carefully calculated manner each time and reacting accordingly. Practical exercises provide essential practice and the sharing of experiences from each of the participants allows everyone to learn alongside each other. Sessions include, rescuing from a lee shore, man over board and assissting other water users especially windsurfers and kayakers as these are common on BLYM.

Useful Information

The minimum age for safety boat is strictly 16 years.

We will not accept candidates for this course unless at lease one seasons' Powerboating experience has been logged since taking Powerboat Level 2.
