RYA Start Yachting

This course is designed for complete beginners. Our aim is to give you an enjoyable introduction to sail cruising. If you are short of time or you´re not quite sure whether sailing will be your thing and are wary of signing up for the 5 day Competent Crew course, this 2 day taster course run over a weekend is just for you.

Start Yachting

For those who wish to gain the full experience of sail cruising, accommodation is provided on board overnight. For those who are less sure, there is the option to stay ashore.

The syllabus includes an introduction to sailing and seamanship. On completion of this course, you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board.

Holders of a Start Yachting certificate can obtain a Competent Crew certificate by completing a futher three days or two weekends of the Competent Crew course.
