The one day course for the Short Range certificate is recommended for anyone who used a VHF radio and it is a legal requirement to have someone with an SRC on the boat if it is fitted with a VHF/DSC radio. The radio is a vital piece of safety equipment and it is important that everyone onboard is competent and confident in its use. The course fee includes the RYA VHF Handbook, notes from the latest edition of Saras book. You will get the book, notes and a study guide before the course and will need to do about 3 hours of work in advance. This is to comply with the European Regulations and that the total learning time must be 10 hours. After the course there will be an assessment by a different instructor which could take up to 2 hours. If you prefer to do the assessment on a different, this can be organised for a small additional fee.
