Think of the Marine DSC VHF Radio as your lifeline to the Maritime Emergency services. Remember also that it’s a legal requirement for someone on board your vessel to have the Short Range Certificate, if you’re going to operate a Marine VHF Radio.
Course Structure
Digital Selective Calling (DSC) using modern ICOM marine radio simulators.
•Distress, Urgency and Routine RT Procedures (DUS)
•Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB)
•Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)
•Making ship to shore and ship to ship calls.
•Search and Rescue Transponders (SART)
•The basics of radio operation.
•The correct frequencies (channels) to be used.
•Ships Radio licencing (Ofcom)
