RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory

YA Ocean Yachtmaster (Shorebased) – Min Age 16 Years Old, Length of course 5 Days or 3 weekends or 20 evening sessions of 2hrs. The RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory course is the first stage in completing your RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate of Competence. This course is for anyone wanting to navigate Mediterranean waters or across the Atlantic or the theoretical information is here. The course covers everything necessary to carry out an ocean passage as skipper or mate. The RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Theory course includes astro-navigation and worldwide meteorology. The training will give you all the tools you need to confidently use a sextant and as well obtain your position, as well as carry out compass checks. An RYA Ocean Yachtmaster also needs to be aware of watch systems, crew management, resource management and emergency equipment.
