The Safety Awareness course is a mandatory requirement for experienced fishermen (those who have at least two years of fishing experience) regardless of whether or not they hold a Certificate of Competency.
This course covers the day to day practical safety issues on board commercial fishing boats, reinforcing the knowledge needed and action to be taken in certain critical situations.
Course Structure
This Seafish safety awareness training covers the improvement of safety on board fishing vessels and the dangers associated with fishing, including;
Legal principles and requirements
Using M-Notices to locate guidance
Identifying hazards
Risk assessment and risk reduction

Pre- Course Requirements
To attend this course all candidates must be over 18, already hold the Seafish basic Health and Safety certificate and have at least two years of fishing experience.
The course consists of lectures, films , demonstrations and practical sessions.
