This 5 day course covers the following: 142 PSSR Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities is a component of the Basic Safety Training for STCW. This class is 4 hours in length and is usually taught on the same day as the second day of Personal Survival alternating with the 4 hour pool session. This PSSR class has no prerequisites and can be taken as a standalone class. If not participating in the entire Basic Safety program, please confirm with the student services office as to the exact time that the PSSR class will be offered for the day you choose. 143 First Aid /CPR This course will satisfy the requirements for First Aid and CPR for USCG Licenses and is required to be taken within 1 calendar year of the original license issuance. This course will also satisfy the STCW Elementary First Aid Requirement that is also offered as part of the STCW Basic Safety Training Course. All classes require passport/ ID, paper, pen, and highlighter 144 Basic Fire Fighting(2 day class) This 2 day course is one of the four modules of STCW Basic Safety Training. There are no tonnage limits on this course and it will satisfy STCW VI-1-2. This course includes both theory taught in the classroom and practical training and assessments with live fire scenarios utilizing the MPT Marine Tech Fire Academy. Jeans or work pants and a t-shirt and socks are required for the fire field. All classes require passport/ ID, paper, pen, and highlighter 141 Personal Survival Techniques PST One of the four modules of STCW Basic Safety Training. This class runs 1.5 days and includes a practical session in a swimming pool. Appropriate bathing attire is required. NO REGULAR shorts are permitted in the pool. All classes require passport/ ID, paper, pen, and highlighter. This class runs 1 1/2 days and offers time to get your PSSR on the second day. Please also register for PSSR course #142. If you need all of the STCW BST modules, you will also want to register for course #143 First Aid and #144 Fire Fighting. Most companies and flag states require this within 5 years. Recommended add - on: 561N Maritime Security Awareness This 4 hour DNV/MARAD/USCG NMC Approved Course is in compliance with: Regulations 13.4 (Part B)of the International Ship & Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code; The Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002; The STCW Code, as amended, Chapter VI, Section A-VI/6 and Table A-VI/6; The IMO Model Course Number 3.27 Security Awareness Training for all Seafarers (2012 edition); and Model Course MTSA 04-03 Maritime Security Awareness (2004 edition); The United States Coast Guard regulations contained in 33 CFR Chapter 1 Subchapter H; the mandatory training requirements in 33 CFR Parts 104 and 105; The Guidelines for Maritime Security Training Course Providers, Reference Federal Register February 8, 2005 (Volume 70, Number 25). This course is open to all seafarers and has no training or experience prerequisites. It satisfies requirements for all seafarers to obtain maritime security awareness level training.
