This is the essential training for the commercial maritime industry and we run these courses every week of the year.
Our five-day STCW Basic Safety Training package provides the practical skills and knowledge to be certificated for the five mandatory modules of training as laid down in the STCW code, these are:
Personal Survival Techniques (STCW A-VI / 1-1)
Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI / 1-2)
Elementary First Aid (STCW A-VI/ 1-3)
Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (STCW A- VI/1 – 4)
Proficiency in Security Awareness (STCW VI/6, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/6, paragraph 4)
Course Structure
Personal Survival Techniques includes preparation for sea survival, lifejackets and liferafts, principles of survival, raft management and search and rescue. The course includes a practical in-water session.
Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting includes learning the risks of fire & their prevention, use of fire fighting equipment, responding to emergencies and fighting & extinguishing fires. The course includes extensive practical sessions on our on-site fire fighting facilities.
Elementary First Aid includes the DRABC of medical emergencies, CPR, recovery, bleeding, and hypothermia.
Personal Safety and Social Responsibility includes dealing with emergency procedures, preservation of the marine environment, safe working practices, orders and their relation to shipboard duties, and human relationships on board ship.
Proficiency in Security Awareness includes an outline of the importance of ship security and the roles of those involved in its provision together with the requirements and measures to maintain ship security and how to recognise and report a security threat.
