Course Structure
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The objective of this course is to enable seafarers to successfully demonstrate their competence in the use of leadership and managerial skills.? The trainees should be able to demonstrate the ability to:
- Apply related international maritime conventions and recommendations, and national legislation;
- Manage shipboard personnel and training;
- Apply task and workload management;
- Apply decision making techniques; and?
- Develop, implement and oversee shipboard standard operating procedures.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES:
On completion of this course, the candidates will:
- Gain the necessary knowledge on the related international maritime conventions and recommendations, and national legislation.
- Be able to manage shipboard personnel including their training.
- Know different task and workload management techniques.
- Know how to effectively manage the resources available.
- Be able to use effective decision making techniques.
- Be able to develop, implement and monitor standard operating procedures.

ENROLMENT STANDARDS:
- There are no specific entry standards for this training.? However, all personnel having specific responsibilities in the controlling the operation of the ship and care for persons on board at the management level as specified in the tables A-II/2 and A-III/2 of the STCW Code must undertake this course.
