Section A-VI/2 of STCW states that `Seafarers qualified in accordance with paragraph 10 in fast rescue boats shall be required, every five years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence, to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities listed in column 1 of table A VI/2-2'
The learner is able to maintain the required standard of competence in Fast Rescue Boats
Course Structure
1. Explain routine maintenance procedures for FRB and measures for contingency repairs.
2. Carry out pre-use checks of FRB, including engines and related rescue equipment.
3. Carry out PPE checks for crew and self.
4. Brief crew for recovery duties.
5. Recover a casualty from the water and effect their safe transfer to a place of safety.
6. Undertake waterborne capsize of FRB in controlled environment.
7. Carry out post capsize procedures, including righting of FRB whilst swimming in appropriate equipment.
8. Re board FRB and establish control of craft and available equipment.
