Updated STCW 95 (STCW 2010)

The STCW 2010 Basic Safety Training Refresher (STCW-R) Course, offered over 1½ days, is mandatory to be taken every five years for all seafarers who have already undergone the complete STCW 2010 Basic Safety Training Course. The Refresher Course meets the requirements of the STCW familiarisation and basic safety training update in accordance with section A-VI/1 of the STCW code.

Galileo is directly accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) of the Department of Transport of the United Kingdom to issue MCA Certificates.

Course Structure

STCW Personal Survival Techniques Updating Training Learning Objectives:

The course will address the following:

- Donning and using an immersion suit

- Swim while wearing a life jacket

- Boarding a survival craft from the water

- Righting an inverted life raft

- Jump from a height into the water

- Keep afloat without a lifejacket

STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting Updating Training Learning Objectives:

The learner must be able to maintain the required standard of competence in fire prevention and fire fighting.

- Minimise risk of fire on board

- Refresh skills in the fire procedure, personal safety requirements and re-familiarise in shipboard equipment.

- Refresh skills to fight and extinguish fires.

Useful Information

STCW Personal Survival Techniques Updating Entry Requirements:

- Candidates must have already completed the full STCW PST

- Candidates must provide proof of sea service within the past 5 years e.g. Testimonials or a Discharge Book.

STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting Updating Entry Requirements:

- Candidates must have already completed the full STCW FPFF previously.

COURSE REQUIREMENT:

- Long socks up to the knee for the fire training

- Dri fit shirt

- Long pants for your water survival training
