WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits : Distance Option
The WSET Level 2 gives a broad overview of the world of wines and spirits.
The Distance Learning option was introduced for those who prefer to study in their own time or for students not based in one of the main centres.
The course is based around a 5 week structured online programme of 6 hours study per week. However, the course has no fixed study times, so students may plan their studies to suit themselves.
The course utilises social media to allow students to study alongside their peers under the guidance of a WSET tutor. Each week includes a series of online group activities to help students look behind the label and recognise the styles produced by the main grape varieties and in the key regions.
Students are advised to taste a range of wines during their studies. A list of 8 general styles will be issued at the beginning of the course which students will need to taste as part of their online activities. It is important students recognise the need to purchase their own samples once enrolled.
Upon completion of the online sessions, students are given time to revise prior to sitting a one hour, 50 question multiple choice exam which is held in central Auckland. From time to time the exam is offered in Wellington too.
The completed exams are sent back to WSET in London for marking and grading.
2015 Course Fee : $495.00 inc GST
includes WSET course study materials, full online tuition, and exam fee. Please note that although this is a distance learning course, the examination is taken IN PERSON IN AUCKLAND.
