42m Private Yacht Seeking First Mate/Chief Officer

We are a 42m private yacht fish, currently docked in Florida completing warranty work. We will depart in early October for Panama, where we will resume fishing before heading up the West Coast. The itinerary includes Panama and Costa Rica, followed by Baja Mexico, and then up to Alaska next summer. The vessel will be based on the West Coast for the foreseeable future.

The yacht recently completed a full paint job and is in excellent condition. We have a great owner with a passion for bill fishing.

We are looking for a candidate who has completed or is near completing their OOW and is eager to pursue a long-term career in yachting, with the ultimate goal of becoming a yacht captain. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in yacht operations, a strong desire to learn, and a commitment to ongoing education. When possible, the candidate will be given drive time for docking and anchoring procedures, as well as exposure to all aspects of the captain\'s responsibilities, including paperwork, chart work, weather routing, and customs clearance.

A passion for fishing is essential. The deck department consists of a Mate and one Deckhand.

The owner and family are down-to-earth, and the crew is active in water sports such as surfing, kiteboarding, foiling, spearfishing, and fishing, as well as hiking and socializing at the dock. We are looking for a like-minded, active individual with a proven track record of longevity in past yacht positions and a commitment to long-term service.

Qualifications:

STCW95, B1/B2 VISA, ENG1 medical, Yachtmaster or higher (OOW preferred or near completion)

Goal-oriented with a desire to advance to Captain

No visible tattoos (must be covered when guests are onboard)

No criminal record

Must be vaccinated

Fishing experience preferred
