Deck crew - Chief Officer, 2nd Officer, 3rd Officer, Bosun, Lead deckhand and 5 deck crew.
Your role as per our SMS:
The Third Officer is responsible to the Master for the proper performance of his assigned duties and his conduct as a watchkeeper and navigator. His duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to acting as the vessel’s Navigating Officer and as such his duties will include, but not be limited to the following: • Reports to the Chief Officer. • 3 rd Watchkeeper (Navigational). • Ensuring that all charts and nautical publications are corrected up to date to reflect the latest published information and that the latest available editions of Charts and Nautical Publications in the vessels outfit are available. (No.2). • Drawing up courses and passage planning as directed by the Master. (No.2). • Routine daily navigational duties related to the vessel’s voyage performance as well as maintaining nautical equipment carried onboard. • Transmission of radio traffic, checks and tests of the radio installation, compilation of radio accounts and completion of the GMDSS Radio Logbook as required by the Master. (No.2). • Garbage (No.2). • The care and maintenance of life-saving and firefighting equipment and the keeping of associated records as directed by the Chief Officer and the Company’s safety manuals. • Pinpoint Worklists & Project Management. • Training. • Safety Representative.• Assists on Deck (60%). • Routine Administrative tasks such as: MMV SOPs, Risk Assessment creation, Contingency Plan writing. • Updating records on IDEA Planned Maintenance. • Marine Guard Security Log & Card Issuing (No.1). • Preparing and testing the bridge equipment prior to departure and reporting deficiencies to the Master and securing the bridge after berthing. • Upon joining a vessel, he is to report to the Master and then check all items assigned to his responsibility and report any deficiencies to the Master. • Completes Role of 2nd Officer when he is absent. • Ensuring all crew and guest Muster Lists are up to date and distributed to the designated areas on the vessel (i.e. Fire plans and Bridge).
