Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced Crew Chef / Sous Chef for a 65-meter private motor yacht. This is a hands-on role, where the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing meals for the crew and supporting the Head Chef in all aspects of the galley operation. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position on yachts or large private vessels, and possess excellent culinary skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Crew Meals: Preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for a crew of [insert number of crew members]. Ensuring meals meet dietary preferences and standards.
- Galley Maintenance: Assisting with the upkeep of the galley, including cleaning, inventory management, and ensuring all safety and hygiene standards are adhered to at all times.
- Menu Planning: Helping with the development of weekly or monthly menus, considering crew preferences, seasonal ingredients, and dietary restrictions.
- Provisioning: Assisting with stock management and provisioning, ensuring that all ingredients are ordered and stored correctly.
- Catering for Guest Events: In the absence of the Head Chef, preparing meals for guests as required, maintaining a high level of presentation and quality.
- Food Safety: Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food storage, cleanliness, and sanitation.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- At least 1-3 years of experience as a Crew Chef or Sous Chef on large private vessels.
- Formal culinary qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, Culinary Arts degree, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Strong experience in preparing meals for a crew in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of international cuisine and dietary preferences.
- Ability to work in a team and follow the direction of the Head Chef.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
- Strong communication skills, a professional attitude, and a passion for cooking.
- STCW and ENG1 medical certification are required.
