Crew Advertisement: Captain for near New 70-80ft Luxury Sailing Catamaran
We are seeking an experienced and professional Captain to take command of a luxurious 70-80ft sailing catamaran for private family use. This is a full-time position, requiring excellent seamanship, leadership, and technical expertise. The role is based aboard the vessel, which will operate globally and in close collaboration with both the family owners and the yacht management professional.
Key Responsibilities:
- Navigation and Sailing: Safe operation and management of the catamaran during all voyages, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for the family and guests.
- Maintenance and Engineering: Oversee the upkeep of all systems aboard, including engines, generators, watermakers, and electrical systems. Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, and coordinate with specialized contractors for more extensive works.
- Crew Management: Lead and collaborate with other crew members, ensuring a harmonious working environment and excellent guest service.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols, equipment, and certifications are up-to-date and compliant with maritime regulations.
- Itinerary Planning: Work closely with the family and yacht management professional to design and execute tailored cruising plans, adapting to weather and preferences.
- Provisioning and Budget Management: Oversee provisioning for the vessel and manage operational budgets efficiently, in collaboration with the yacht management professional.
- Creating a Tranquil Environment: Contribute to a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere aboard, aligning with the family’s spiritual values and lifestyle preferences.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Captain on similar-sized vessels, preferably luxury catamarans.
- Advanced sailing skills with experience handling large sailing catamarans in various conditions.
- Strong engineering and maintenance skills, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Professional certifications, including valid relevant Captain’s qualifications and STCW certifications.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Discretion, professionalism, and a service-oriented mindset.
- Sensitivity to the values of a highly spiritual family that treasures peace, quiet, and a harmonious environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the yacht management professional to ensure the vessel’s optimal operation.
- Calm demeanor and ability to adapt to the family’s preferences for privacy and tranquility.
- Non-smoker or drinker, no visible tattoos, and ability to maintain a professional appearance.
