Summary

Position Title: Second Officer (Future Chief Officer)

Vessel Size: 80m Private Superyacht

License Requirement: Chief Officer 3000GT License

Overview:

Following Seas Recruiting is seeking a professional and highly motivated Second Officer on behalf of our client to join their 80m superyacht. This exciting opportunity comes with the prospect of evolving into the Chief Officer position in the very near future. The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering a world-class experience for owners and guests while demonstrating strong leadership capabilities for future responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Navigation and Bridge Operations:
  • Assist the Chief Officer in planning and executing safe navigation.
  • Perform watchkeeping duties while underway, ensuring adherence to COLREGS and international standards.
  • Maintain navigation equipment and ensure charts and publications are updated.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Act as the vessel’s Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with ISM, ISPS, and other international regulations.
  • Organize safety drills, including fire, abandon ship, and man-overboard scenarios.
  • Maintain records related to safety equipment inspections and maintenance.
  • Deck Operations:
  • Oversee deck maintenance schedules, ensuring the vessel is in pristine condition.
  • Supervise and assist the deck team in daily operations, including tender handling, watersports, and guest activities.
  • Assist with docking and anchoring maneuvers.
  • Crew Management:
  • Mentor and train junior crew members, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
  • Support the Chief Officer in administrative tasks, including crew appraisals and schedules.
  • Guest Interaction:
  • Act as a point of contact for guests during operations, ensuring their safety and satisfaction.
  • Assist in the seamless delivery of guest itineraries.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • License: STCW Chief Officer 3000GT
  • Visas: B1/B2
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role on yachts over 60m.
  • Certifications: Valid STCW Basic and Advanced modules, GMDSS, ENG1, and Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD).
  • Skills: Proficiency with bridge equipment, electronic navigation systems, and ISM/ISPS protocols.
