Summary

Junior Safety Officer (OOW Unlimited) 

We are seeking a dynamic Safety Officer onboard a 90m Superyacht.  

The Junior Safety Officer will work alongside our Officers onboard to fulfill all administrative requirements for our onboard Safety procedures plus oversee maintenance of lifesaving and firefighting equipment. As the designated safety officer, you will ensure that all safety procedures onboard are followed as per ISM requirements and that all the safety equipment is functioning correctly. 

An excellent knowledge of all maritime safety procedures is required as well as a flexible nature in order to combine bridge duties with assistance on deck. Other duties include undertaking bridge watches when at sea, plus participating and training of the deck department in operations such as anchoring, mooring, and operating cranes for hoisting/lowering of tenders. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Ensuring that all safety procedures are followed 
  • Maintenance of all the LSA and FFA onboard 
  • Arranging regular safety drills 
  • Weekly and monthly safety checks and maintenance 
  • Conducting safety familiarisations and safety training for the crew regularly 
  • Watch-keeping 
  • Overseeing deck maintenance 
  • Tender driving 
  • Participating in deck operations such as anchoring, mooring and operating cranes for hoisting/lowering of tenders 

Certificates and Qualifications Required 

  • STCW 95 
  • PDSD certificate 
  • ENG-1 medical certificate (with no watch restrictions) 
  • OOW Unlimited 
  • Powerboat Level 2 

Leave entitlement: 90-days per annum

Entry Level Qualifications (or equivalent)
  • STCW 95 (STCW 2010)
  • ENG 1 (Medical Certificate)
Master/Skipper Qualifications (or Merchant, USCG & AMSA equivalent)
  • Reg II/1 CoC Officer of the Watch (Unlimited)
