Summary

Job Description: Lead Deckhand

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Lead Deckhand for a 50m+ charter motor yacht. The ideal candidate will have experience and hold a RYA Yacht master offshore license.

This position is open to candidates with 2 years yachting experience, due to cabin arrangements we are seeking a male.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the yacht, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for guests.
  • Supervision and Leadership: The lead deckhand supervises the deck crew, assigning tasks and ensuring that all duties are performed efficiently and safely.

  • Deck Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining the yacht\'s exterior, including cleaning, polishing, and ensuring all surfaces are in good condition. This includes the maintenance of the deck, hull, and superstructure.

  • Safety and Security: Ensuring that all safety protocols are followed. This includes conducting safety drills, managing safety equipment, and maintaining a secure environment on board.

  • Lines and Fenders Management: Handling lines and fenders during docking and undocking procedures, ensuring safe mooring of the yacht.

  • Water Sports Activities: Overseeing and assisting guests with water sports and recreational activities, such as diving, jet skiing, and using other water toys.

  • Inventory Management: Keeping track of deck supplies and equipment, reporting when items need to be replaced or replenished.

  • Assisting with Watchkeeping: Participating in navigational watch as required, assisting the officer of the watch, and keeping an eye on vessel operations.

  • Guest Interaction: Providing excellent service to guests, ensuring their needs are met and that they have a positive experience on board.

  • Emergency Response: Being prepared for emergencies, understanding the yacht\'s emergency protocols, and training the crew in emergency procedures.

  • Training Crew Members: Mentoring and training junior deckhands on safety practices, maintenance procedures, and guest service.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Yachting.
  • RYA Yacht Master
  • STCW certification and valid medical certificate.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying schedules and guest needs.
  • Previous experience on a yacht is a plus but not mandatory.
