Summary
We are looking for a Bosun to join a private 50m Motor yacht by April 7th 2025. The ideal candidate will have more than 2 years of experience working on similar sized vessels with previous leadership experience.
The preferred candidate will be a positive individual with a good sense of humor that can easily fit into a crew of healthy and active likeminded individuals, able to come onboard and hit the ground running whilst thoroughly familiarizing themselves with all SOPs and managing 2 deckhands.
The Bosun will work closely with the Chief Officer to lead on deck. Key responsibilities will include maintaining high standards of deck cleanliness, maintenance and operations. Ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of all exterior duties. Creating their own work lists and maintain washdown and maintenance inventories and equipment. Confident boat handling and towing opps.
Standard MLC contract and salary $4,500 negotiable on experience and certifications. Time off given for courses and we encourage growth throughout the team. This is not a party boat and will be drug tested.
The owners like to be onboard while cruising up or down the coast and spend a few days in each pot giving crew the opportunity to see and explore each port. They rarely travel with more than one other couple and are very self sufficient, down to earth and have sailing background. Not a big water sports program.
Yard till mid May then summer in NE and Canada, yard Dec and Jan. Early 2025 we will be cruising USVI and BVI and then crossing to England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
Requirements:
- Yacht Master / Master of Yachts / USCG equivalent
- STCW
- PDSD
- ENG 1
- B1/2 Visa in hand
- OOW modules is an added advantage
- Watchkeeping experience – will lead a watch while underway
- Proven Longevity
- Prior charter experience advantageous
- Strong Organizational skills with experience in Inventory.
- Painting and maintenance skills
- Fluent in English
- Non Smoker
- Positive Mental Attitude.
