Summary

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Officer to join our 50-meter luxury yacht heading to Europe. The Chief Officer will play a key role in supporting the Captain with the overall operation of the vessel and crew management while ensuring the safety and well-being of all guests and crew on board. The successful candidate will have strong leadership abilities, excellent technical skills, and a proactive attitude towards ensuring the yacht’s smooth and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vessel Management:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational functions of the yacht, ensuring all systems are running smoothly.
  • Responsible for maintaining the vessel’s navigational and safety equipment in compliance with international regulations.
  • Assist the Captain in planning and executing itineraries, including port calls, provisioning, and technical operations.
  • Navigation & Safety:
  • Ensure that all navigational operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in bridge watchkeeping and manage navigational duties as required.
  • Monitor weather conditions, sea state, and other factors that may affect operations, adjusting course accordingly.
  • Ensure the yacht's safety equipment is regularly tested, maintained, and up to date.
  • Crew Management:
  • Supervise and coordinate the deck crew’s daily tasks, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior crew members, fostering a positive and professional team environment.
  • Ensure all deck crew have completed their required certifications and training in line with maritime regulations.
  • Guest Services:
  • Work with the yacht’s interior and hospitality team to ensure a seamless guest experience, ensuring the vessel’s readiness for guest arrival.
  • Participate in organizing and assisting with water sports, excursions, and other guest-related activities.
  • Maintenance & Quality Control:
  • Ensure that the yacht is maintained to the highest standards, both technically and aesthetically.
  • Supervise the routine maintenance of deck equipment, tenders, and toys, ensuring all are in good working order.
  • Perform regular inspections and manage inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure compliance with all maritime regulations and company procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of safety drills and audits.
  • Maintain necessary records, including logbooks, maintenance schedules, and crew certifications.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Chief Officer on similar-sized yachts.
  • Proven experience navigating in European waters and managing yacht operations.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is essential.
  • Certifications:
  • STCW Basic Safety Training (all up-to-date certificates).
  • Chief Officer 3000 GT (or higher) certification (or equivalent).
  • Advanced Fire Fighting, Medical Care on Board, and Personal Survival Techniques certifications.
  • Familiarity with ISM, ISPS, and other maritime regulations is a must.
  • Skills:
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of yacht systems, navigation, and maintenance.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to delivering high standards.
  • Proactive, flexible, and able to work well under pressure.
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).
