Summary

We are seeking a First Mate to join a 50m MY currently based in Fort Lauderdale. 

The successful candidate must have a pleasant outgoing personality, a strong boating background, and must instill a culture of excellence and service amongst and between all crew members. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience on a similar, or larger, high-end yacht. Experience in the Mediterranean/Adriatic, Florida, New England, Bahamas, and the Caribbean is ideal, but not essential.

This is a family program, not a party boat, never charters. Well maintained vessel with great crew longevity.

Itinerary:

  • Winter Season: Florida/Bahamas
  • Summer Season: The Boat is placed on Dockwise and is transported to the Med / Europe for the Summer. Summer is the busy season with guests and Owner onboard.

Requirements

  • Visible leadership skills, superior intellectual capacity, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have a high energy level, a good sense of humor, enthusiasm, flexibility, and the highest level of integrity.
  • Must have superior docking, preparation, cleaning, and maintenance with a calm and confident demeanor.
  • Must be very knowledgeable and proficient in navigation.
  • Must provide superior support to the Captain in every aspect.
  • Must work well with all Crew Members, in all aspects. Must foster a pleasant and enjoyable working atmosphere.
  • Must have a stable employment record, with measurable accomplishments and strong references.
  • Must be conversant in English, with excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of all Bridge, Navigation, and Deck Procedures.  
  • Must have good deck repair knowledge and maintenance skills. 
  • Must have a strong knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Must have a comprehensive ISM (International Safety Management) background and knowledge.

Will be responsible for management of deck crew, general crew discipline, Watch Schedule, regular safety drills, deck maintenance, and the purchase of deck inventory and equipment.

Will oversee preparation/stowage of the yacht, before the yacht goes underway on Dockwise (to and from the Med).
